MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
The Information Society Project Office aims to promote co-operation and development in the various areas of the Information
Society. ISPO acts as a
bridgebuilder between Commission Services and external organizations interested in the Information
Society.
ISPO is part of the Information Society Activity Centre. ISAC is jointly established by DG
Industry and DG
Telecommunications, Information Market and Exploitation of Research (respectively DGIII and XIII of the European
Commission). |

MAIN ACTIVITIES
Raising awareness on the opportunities and impacts of the IS: conferences, seminars, workshops;
Disseminate information (e.g. on specific policies, on best
practices, on legislation - using state-of-the-art technologies);
Brokerage of ideas, applications, services and best practices;
Guidance on IS funding instruments provided by the
Commission;
Collect information: establish and maintain inventories of projects and studies on the IS
Management of a multiannual programme to stimulate the establishment
of the IS in Europe
Participation in other ISAC activities (Information Society Forum, Horizontal activities, International co-operation) and in
the IS related activities of the other Commission services. |
